Students can collaborate on contest to fix global warming
Teachers can check out Google's new collaboration tools and put their kids to work on an important scientific and environmental issue by participating in The Global Warming Student Speakout. It's a contest where classes use Google's Docs & Spreadsheets online office programs to collaborate on ideas to solve global warming. Winners will have their ideas published in The Washington Post in November.
After reviewing the spreadsheets, our partners at GlobalSchoolNet will choose the top 50 ideas, and we’ll publish the list in an ad that will appear online and in a November issue of the Washington Post (we’ll send you the date as soon as we have it). We’ll also include the name of every school that participates, so regardless of whether their ideas are published, your students will be credited for their work.
The deadline is Nov. 2. Google introduced the contest as part of their portal for educators, an entry point to a dozen different Google apps with specific pointers for teachers.
